Berlin stands among the top three startup hubs in Europe, with an innovation scene that is growing rapidly and attracting more and more entrepreneurs. It was, therefore, a natural move for Early Metrics to open an office in the heart of this hub in February 2019 and come closer to the trailblazing startups emerging there.

Among the most promising German startups, Early Metrics has had the chance to rate is nxtBase.

Powering the Industry 4.0 with AR

nxtBase develops an Industrial IoT solution that combines augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence and computer vision to increase the availability and quality of machines of large industries.

They produce both wearables and software enabling factory workers to follow and validate processes as well as detect hidden defects at an early stage. Their smart glass solution, for instance, increases the workers’ efficiency as they can check their progress hands-free, without having to constantly turn to monitors. This then leads to significant improvement in processes and information flow.

Top 10% in Robotics and Manufacturing

NxtBase received a high growth potential score from Early Metrics in November 2018. With a grade of 78/100, they rank among the top 10% of rated startups in robotics and manufacturing. This score was motivated by the very strong management team, with industry-specific hard skills and strong commercial experience.  Indeed, the founder highlighted that he and his team have “more than 100 years of SAP experience” combined.

According to the Early Metrics methodology, the project also scored very high thanks to the maturity of the offer which is market-ready and has proven to bring concrete positive impact on large company processes.

Talking about his rating experience, Jörg Jonas-Kops explained: “The analyst that visited us brought really deep market experience and made a very warm introduction to a huge French corporation.” The startup is indeed currently accelerating its international expansion thanks to partnerships with large groups, such as Hänel in the USA.
